# Innokin tank, choosing one by its coil family

> Every Innokin tank belongs to a coil family (Z-Coil, Plex3D, Plexus Scion, T18). What each published wattage range asks of your mod in volts and amps.

Zenith, Zlide, GoMax, Plex, T18II. On a shop page, an **Innokin tank** is sold by its name, its capacity and its colour. Nothing on that page tells you which coil you will be buying again over the following weeks, or what your mod will have to deliver to drive it. Behind the brand name, the catalogue hides several coil families that do not all overlap. Before comparing glass and airflow, it pays to know which family you are buying into.

## Innokin tank, the coil decides before the tank does

Innokin's current catalogue brings together four coil families, plus one rebuildable atomiser. The Z-Coil fits most of the tanks (Zenith II, Zenith Pro, Zlide, GO Z). The GoMax takes a Plex3D Matrix mesh head at 0.19 ohm, the Plex a Plexus Scion head at 0.13 or 0.15 ohm, and the T18II a 1.5 ohm T18/T22 head. The Ares 2 RTA is built by hand.

Picking an **Innokin tank** therefore means choosing a family of consumables and a wattage range first. The exact model comes afterwards, for capacity, diameter and draw.

## Four coil families in the catalogue, in one table

The table only uses figures published on Innokin's official product pages, tank by tank. The ranges are the manufacturer's own for the heads named on each page.

| Tank | Coil family | Published values and ranges | Diameter | Listed capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zenith II | Z-Coil | 0.3 ohm (30 to 40 W), 0.8 ohm (15 to 18 W) | 26 mm | 5.5 ml or 2 ml |
| Zenith Pro | Z-Coil (Zenith series) | 1.2 ohm (10 to 14 W), 1.0 ohm (20 to 25 W) | 24 mm | 5.5 ml |
| Zlide | Z-Coil | Plex3D 0.48 ohm (13 to 16 W) | 22.7 mm | 2 ml |
| GO Z | Z-Coil | 1.6 ohm, range not published | not published | 2 ml |
| GoMax | Plex3D Matrix mesh | 0.19 ohm (60 to 80 W) | 29 mm | 5.5 ml |
| Plex | Plexus Scion | 0.13 ohm (80 to 110 W), 0.15 ohm (60 to 110 W) | 25 mm | 2 or 4 ml |
| T18II | T18/T22 | 1.5 ohm (13.5 W maximum) | 18 mm | 2 or 2.5 ml |
| Ares 2 RTA | rebuildable | free build in Kanthal wire | not published | 2 or 4 ml |

Several pages list more than 2 ml. In the UK, refillable tanks are capped at 2 ml, so the 2 ml version is the one that applies where Innokin offers it, as with the Zenith II.

## The Z-Coil, four tanks and ranges that move with the value

The Z family is the largest in the catalogue, and it is also where the same Innokin tank changes character most with the head fitted. The official pages give concrete markers, worth translating into volts and amps.

### Zenith II and Zenith Pro, two ranges for two draws

The Zenith II page declares the tank compatible with all current Z-Coils. It names a 0.8 ohm head at 15 to 18 W for mouth-to-lung and a 0.3 ohm head at 30 to 40 W for restricted direct lung.

At 18 W, the 0.8 ohm head sees about 3.8 V and 4.7 A. At 40 W, the 0.3 ohm head needs about 3.5 V and 11.5 A, more than twice the current for almost the same voltage. The Zenith Pro follows the same logic with its 1.2 ohm head at 10 to 14 W (about 4.1 V and 3.4 A at the top of the range) and its 1.0 ohm head at 20 to 25 W (5 V and 5 A at 25 W).

### Zlide and GO Z, the same family in a compact format

The Zlide stays at 2 ml and 22.7 mm across. Its page names a single head, the 0.48 ohm Plex3D at 13 to 16 W, while stating compatibility with the whole Z range. The GO Z, a PCTG tank, ships with the 1.6 ohm Z-Coil, with no wattage range published.

For a full breakdown of values and compatibility traps in another coil family, our guide to [Zeus coils and their ranges](/uk/zeus-coils/) applies the same reading to a different manufacturer.

## Plex3D and Plexus Scion, two similar names for two families

Innokin's naming invites confusion, and it is often what sends the wrong box of heads to an Innokin tank. Plex3D is a mesh, offered as a 0.48 ohm Z head for the Zlide and as a 0.19 ohm Matrix head for the GoMax. The GoMax page names no head other than its own, in Kanthal on a wood pulp and cotton wick.

The tank called Plex does not use Plex3D at all. Its page fits a Plexus Scion head, listed as compatible with the Scion, Scion II and Plex tanks. A vaper who orders "Plex coils" for a Plex on the strength of the name may end up with a family that was never meant for it. The exact reference is on the box of heads, never in the tank's name.

## What a 0.13 ohm head asks of your mod

This is where the families truly part ways. A high range on a very low value cannot be read in watts alone, and Ohm's law shows what the chipset and the cells must supply.

| Head | Top published wattage | Voltage at the head | Current at the head |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z 0.8 ohm (Zenith II) | 18 W | 3.8 V | 4.7 A |
| Z 0.3 ohm (Zenith II) | 40 W | 3.5 V | 11.5 A |
| Plex3D Matrix 0.19 ohm (GoMax) | 80 W | 3.9 V | 20.5 A |
| Plexus Scion 0.15 ohm (Plex) | 110 W | 4.1 V | 27.1 A |
| Plexus Scion 0.13 ohm (Plex) | 110 W | 3.8 V | 29.1 A |

At 110 W, the 0.13 ohm Plexus Scion draws about 29 A through the coil, six times the current of a 0.8 ohm Z head at the top of its range. The mod behind this Innokin tank should therefore be chosen on its maximum output current as much as on its displayed wattage. In a dual-cell mod wired in series, that figure is not what each cell delivers, since the pack voltage is doubled. The full reasoning, from coil to cell, is set out in our look at the [Aegis Solo 3 and its 100 W](/uk/aegis-solo-3-power/).

## The T18II, a 1.5 ohm head read in volts

The T18II is the odd one out. At 18 mm across with a tight draw, it is the narrowest tank listed, and its page talks mostly in volts.

It gives a voltage of 4.0 to 4.5 V, a maximum output current of 3.9 A and a 1.5 ohm T18/T22 head capped at 13.5 W. The maths matches the page. At 4.5 V, a 1.5 ohm head receives exactly 13.5 W and 3 A, and at 4.0 V just over 10.5 W, the lowest value listed. These figures describe a wattage that follows the voltage supplied to the head, rather than a value chosen in watts on a mod.

## Which Innokin tank suits which vaper

The coil families draw clear profiles. The verdict comes down to the draw you want and the current your mod can supply.

A mouth-to-lung vaper on a simple battery with no wattage control will find in the T18II a tank whose page reasons in volts, with a 1.5 ohm head. Anyone who wants to set wattage for a tight or restricted draw stays with the Z family, through the Zenith II, the Zenith Pro or the Zlide, and keeps one box of heads across several tanks.

High-wattage direct lung vaping goes through the GoMax or the Plex, provided the mod can push 20 to 30 A through the coil. Builders, finally, will look at the Ares 2 RTA, supplied with pre-built heads and Kanthal wire, where the value is set at the build.

## FAQ

The questions that come up when moving from one Innokin tank to another, alongside the family-by-family breakdown.

### Does a Z head fit the Plex tank?
The Plex page only names the Plexus Scion head, listed as compatible with the Scion, Scion II and Plex tanks. No Z-Coil appears on it. Before buying, compatibility is best checked on the box of heads or on the tank's page.

### Why do the two Plexus Scion heads have different ranges?
The 0.13 ohm head starts at 80 W, the 0.15 ohm at 60 W, and both go up to 110 W. Innokin does not explain the gap on its page. At the bottom of each range, the 0.13 ohm sees about 3.2 V and 24.8 A at 80 W, the 0.15 ohm about 3 V and 20 A at 60 W.

### Does the Zenith II take the 1.6 ohm head?
The Zenith II page declares the tank compatible with all current Z-Coils, and the 1.6 ohm head belongs to that range, the same one the GO Z ships with. It is a mouth-to-lung value, at the opposite end of the family from the 0.3 ohm.

### Can a 5.5 ml Innokin tank be sold in the UK?
Not in that version. Refillable tanks are limited to 2 ml in the UK. The Zenith II is made in a 2 ml version, which is the one that meets the cap. A page that lists 5.5 ml describes the standard version intended for other markets.

### Does the Ares 2 RTA need replacement heads?
No. It is a rebuildable atomiser. Innokin supplies it with pre-built Kanthal coils and wire, and its page lists the resistance as "customised". You replace the wire and cotton yourself, with no box of heads to buy again.

## Innokin tank, read the box of heads before the glass

Under a single logo, the catalogue groups tanks that ask anything from 3 A to almost 30 A of the mod depending on their head. Capacity, diameter and colour remain secondary until the family of consumables is settled.

An **Innokin tank** is therefore chosen first by its head, Z-Coil, Plex3D Matrix, Plexus Scion or T18, then by the wattage range it sets. The habit works for every brand, and it runs through our reading of the [Geekvape coil series](/uk/geekvape-coils/).
